Creating the Conditions for Good Design: Affordable Housing Workshop
Join us for an interactive half-day workshop exploring how clients can create the conditions for good design during the early stages of affordable housing development.
Many of the decisions that have the greatest influence on the quality of affordable housing are made before a design team is appointed. Understanding a site’s potential, establishing a clear vision and making informed early decisions can lead to stronger briefs, better design outcomes and more successful places. This workshop will explore practical approaches to making those early decisions with greater confidence.
Using case studies, a site visit and workshop activities centred on a live development site in Cardiff, participants will explore why early-stage decisions matter, how site and context analysis can unlock development potential, how to develop a clear vision and design principles, strengthen project briefs, and procure and appoint the right design team.
