Accessibility Statement

This statement applies to all content published on the website for Design Commission for Wales, dcfw.org.

DCFW Ltd aims to ensure that its website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but we cannot guarantee this one hundred percent as there may be external technical issues beyond our control. DCFW Ltd shall not be liable if, for any reason, the website is unavailable at any time, for any period of time, due to system failure, maintenance, repair and other reasons beyond our control which may cause the website to be suspended without notice.

DCFW Ltd acknowledges that some parts of the current website and content may not meet all accessibility standards. We are aware of and accept the issues affecting total accessibility and we are taking action to change this by commissioning a new website which meets technical and accessibility needs and standards as far as possible within our resources. While we commission the new site we have made the existing site available, whilst we acknowledge the accessibility issues.

Using DCFW’s website

This site is run by DCFW Ltd. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it easily and successfully. This means you should be able to:

  1. Zoom up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  2. Navigate the website using just a keyboard
  3. Navigate using any speech recognition software that you have access to
  4. Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

DCFW Ltd acknowledges that some parts of this site are not fully accessible. For example, you may not be able to change colours, contrast levels and fonts at this time because there are no direct methods of changing these aspects.

Some pages and documents may:

  1. Be in pdf format and not fully accessible
  2. Have pages, documents and attachments that are for technical audiences and may use technical language
  3. Have pages/documents of poor colour contrast
  4. Some tables do not have row headings
  5. Have page titles that are not unique
  6. Have some images that do not have image descriptions
  7. Some buttons are not clearly identified
  8. Some error messages are not clearly associated with form controls
  9. Have link text that may not describe the purpose of the link

Non-accessible content

Some content of the website may not be accessible and may not at this time comply with accessibility regulations. Non accessibility may cover some images, documents and tables.

PDF documents may not be accessible in various ways including missing text alternatives and document structure.

Disproportionate burden

DCFW Ltd is a very small company with limited resources. We therefore consider that the burden of fixing accessibility issues with some content on the current site would be disproportionate as the whole website will soon be retired and replaced. We aim to do this over a six month period from August 2024.

Technical information about DCFW’s website accessibility

DCFW Ltd is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies(Websites and Mobile Applications) (No 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance Status

DCFW’s website is not be fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines however our new site will address this.

Preparation of this Accessibility Statement

This statement was prepared on 12.02.2020 and was reviewed on 10.07.2024.

Accessibility testing has not recently been carried out however DCFW Ltd is committed to providing a new site where accessibility requirements are met, within six months beginning in August 2024, and to continuous appropriate maintenance of the new site.
